What is a Fanlisting?
A fanlisting is simply an online listing of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country.

Roxas's theme isn't a fast, upbeat song at all. It's slow and gentle and sounds a bit sad it some parts as well. It's played during one of the cutscenes in the first three hours of the game, when you're playing as Roxas and not Sora. More specifcally, it's played during the cutscene where he's talking to Namine inside the Old Mansion in Twilight Town in the While Room/Namine's Room. It's not really a happy piece of music overall, since he finds out a piece of information from Namine that he really couldn't believe.
*Spoiler Alert*
In short, Roxas, I'm guessing has another one of his spacing out/dreaming (kinda) moments since he's not physically inside the Old Mansion talking to Namine. He's talking to her mentally, I suppose. Anyway, the minute he's in the White Room, he glances at the pictures that are on the wall. The first picture that catches his attention is the one of Destiny Islands. The next one is of Kairi; that's when Namine starts talking to him.
He soon faces a picture of himself and Axel and Namine tells him that they're best friends; Roxas doesn't believe her though and thinks it's a joke. She then asks him if he wanted to know the truth about him, but he brushes it off at first. When he faces the picture of Sora, Donald, and Goofy, she asks if he knows them. He then replies by saying that they're the ones who've been in his dreams.
She continues onto saying how a year ago she had to take apart Sora's memories (she isn't specific on what happened or why she had to take them apart.) and how now she's putting all of his memories together, exactly as they were. It's been taking her quite some time and has been affecting Roxas as well, hense the dreams. Roxas doesn't really seem to be confused by what she's saying, until she says that he and Sora are connected.
"You and Sora are connected."
If that line wasn't enough, she then mentions that in order of Sora to be completely whole again, he's gonna need Roxas in order to do so. He has completely no clue what she's talking about. How can he be a half of someone; it's not something that a person hears everyday. Makes ya think. ^^; Roxas starts to question who Namine really is since to him what she's saying doesn't seem to make all that much sense.
Roxas's theme starts here, when he and Namine are talking to each other at the table and are now facing each other.
She replies by saying that she's a witch (which is what DiZ called her) and has the power over Sora's memories and those around him. She's not sure why she has that power, let alone if she's using it correctly, but, she just does. Roxas knows that he really can't help her when it comes to her powers. He mentions how now, it seems like he doesn't know himself anymore and how if Namine really knows something that he doesn't know about himself, that he'd like to hear it.
She doesn't reply quickly and when she does, Roxas for one isn't happy to hear it. She had a feeling that he wasn't going to like what she was gonna say since she tilt her head downward and how her voice was filled with sadness.
"You...you were never supposed to exist, Roxas."
That was the one thing that Roxas never expected to hear. He really couldn't believe it and even if it were true, she shouldn't have told him. No one really wants to hear that they weren't supposed to exist; it could send them on a downward spiral of confusion and hatred. Before their conversation ends, she tells him how some things are truly better left unsaid.
At this point, confusion begins to bury itself within Roxas's mind. He can't bring himself to believe that he wasn't supposed to exist, but some things would now begin to make sense. The pieces of what she said aren't fully comprehended in his mind until the 6th day, when he figures out how everything makes sense. Of course there are still mysteries behind Roxas and which those answers aren't found until later on in the game.

This song caught my attention the moment I heard the song. It's a slow, gentle piece and fits in quite well where it's played in the game. I felt bad for Roxas when Namine tells him that information and I wasn't sure at the time how he'd react to it. Poor Roxas was in complete confusion with himself after Namine tells him that information let alone how to really react to it. He was is pretty much disbelief before he sees Sora himself. This piece also reminded me of "Missing You," a BGM that was played when Kairi puts the letter that she writes into a bottle and places it into the ocean. |
It all started on Destiny Islands where Sora and his two best friends, Riku and Kairi lived. They love their peaceful life on the islands, they seek to explore new places and new worlds that are beyond their island home. One night, darkness consumes the islands and the lives of Sora and his friends are changed forever. Sora wakes up in another world and soon discovers that Riku and Kairi are nowhere to be found. Donald and Goofy are looking for their missing king, who left them a message to find the one who holds the "key" -- the key to their survival. They find out that Sora is the person who the king mentioned in the message that he left behind about the one with the "key." Sora joins Donald and Goofy and together they begin their adventure to find Sora's missing friends and the king. Throughout their travels, they met many new people, travelled to numerous places, fighting numerous Heartless, and overcame great chalenges. They reunite with their friends that they had been searching for, but the reunion is short lived. After Sora sealed Kingdom Hearts with the help of Mickey, he and Riku were trapped within it. Before the doors closed, he told Sora that there will always be a door to the light; hense that they will meet again in the future. Sora also sees Kairi again and before they're separated again, Sora promises that he'll return one day as soon as he finds Riku and Mickey. It's been a year since then and Sora, Donald, and Goofy are now searching for Riku and Mickey and the Door of Light. They reunite with old friends and travel to new places and know next adventure will be much more difficult than their previous one, with that they'll meet new enemies and see old ones as well. The Heartless return, along with new kinds as well. Now to the Nobodies and Organization XIII... They're the new enemies that Sora, Donald, and Goofy will have to face before they'll able to find Riku and King Mickey. Unlike the Hearless, who fight with instinct and can hardly be controlled... Nobodies are smarter in that they can plan and the group of powerful Nobodies that controls them are Organization XIII, a group of powerful Nobodies who control the weaker ones. The members of Organization XIII want to become whole, but is that the only thing that they desire? If they want to become whole, how will they do it? What will happen as Sora, Donald, and Goofy as they travel to the various worlds and find out more about the friends and enemies around them? |
This game was created as a joint project between Squaresoft (Now, merged with Enix, and is called Square Enix) and Disney Interactive. This game at first seemed very odd to most people and wasn't a likely to be a success, if at all. The game was first released in Japan on March 28, 2002 and was later released in the United States and Europe. There are two difficulties to the game -- Normal and Expert, but there really wan't much difference between them, besides in the battle difficulty. The way to unlock the secret ending was the same: complete all of the tournaments, find all 99 puppies and sealing all the keyholes to all the worlds, including the 100 Acre Wood. There was also a re-release in Japan only: "Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix," which included the extras that weren't in the original Japan release, but were in the U.S. and European releases. Those extras being the optional boss battles between Sephiroth, Kurt Ziza, and The Phantom. There were also some other extras that were only found in the Final Mix, like an optional boss battle with an unknown Organization member (who I don't believe by the end of the 2nd one you ever find out his true indentity. If I'm wrong, correct me. ^^), a new secret ending video called "Another Side, Another Story [Deep Dive]", new cutscenes that help clear up some of the plot points, abilities, weapons, items, additional and recolored enemies, and new music, including tracks that were in the U.S. and European releases. The game was not just sucessful, but became a phenomenon around the globe and a sequel had to be in the works. Like, with about everything else, this game faced critisms, like the game seemed too childish (especially to hard core Final Fantasy fans), that the combo between Square and Disney didn't work as well as some had hoped, and how parts of the battle system were awkward to control (like the camera, which even myself had some issues with), and the lack of fun when it came to the Gummi Ship missions.
Behind the Series Information: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories It was released in Japan on November 11, 2004 and soon released afterwards in the U.S., Europe, and Australia. This game isn't a true sequel to the original KH game (since...*highlight to read spolier*
Since for the most part, it's pretty much a recap of the events that happened in the original game, so it's not necessary to play that game before playing the second KH game. Completing the game with Sora will unlock the Riku mode (aka Reverse Rebirth) where you can play as Riku and get his side of the story. Unlike the battle system that was used in the original game, KH:COM didn't use that system and instead focused on a card-based game play. The cards are used to fight enemies, create worlds, and open doors.
Behind the Series Information: Kingdom Hearts II Pretty much all of the problems that were found in the first game are fixed in the second one. With the battle system, three features were added - Reaction commands, Drive System, and limits. During various battles and events, hitting the triangle button at the right time will activate the reaction command and it can help to defeat enemies faster and accomplish various tasks. The Drive system, another new addition to the battle system and with that Sora can take on various forms (5 in total, one of those 5 won't show up on the menu) when he fuses with Donald and Goofy or both party members. When he fuses with them, he gains their strengths -- if he fuses with Donald, the form's called 'Wisdom' and he can use magic in succession; with Goofy, the form's called 'Valor' (or 'Brave' as some like to call it) and Sora's strength increases as he can wield two Keyblades. There are advantages and disadvantages when Sora's in the various Drive forms, like with 'Valor' he can't use magic but has increased strength in exchange and with 'Wisdom,' his strength isn't much stronger, but he can use magic more rapidly and move faster (it's more like he's gliding instead of running in this form). The other three forms -- Master, Final, and Anti involve both party members are fused with Sora, the exception is the Anti form since when the Drive forms are used too much and it's random, so you won't know when he'll turn into Anti Sora. The other two are like 'Valor' and 'Wisdom' in that once they're obtained, they can be chosen from the Drive menu. Of course there are limits in using the Drive forms since there's also a Drive bar and if the bar isn't filled up to a certain point, then it can't be used. The third new feature in the battle system are the limits. Depending on who's in your party, it'll depend what limits you can do. Every character that's in your party besides Donald and Goofy has one limit (I'll have to check to be sure) and with every limit you use, it'll consume all of your magic and turn your magic bar pink. You can't use any limit until it restores itself over time or using an Ether. Like the first game, there's more than one difficulty, but unlike the first one (which only had two difficulties -- Normal or Expert), the second game has three difficulties/modes -- Beginner, Standard, and Proud. Depending on what difficulty you choose will determine if you get the secret ending. If you choose Beginner, you won't get the secret ending. If you choose Standard, you'll have to have 100 percent in Jiminy's Journal (or collect all the treasures; not sure which since I chose Proud while I was playing ^^;; If someone could let me know which is correct, that would be much appreciated. ^_^) and seal all of the keyholes to get the secret ending. And if you choose Proud, you just have to seal all the keyholes to get the secret ending. If you do those things, you'll get the secret ending. The secret ending, which I don't think has a name (the BGM piece is called 'Sunset Horizons') and looks like if there's a third game that it could be a prequel to the KH series since it does mention a Keyblade war in it.
Behind the Series Information: Kingdom Hearts Mangas The Kingdom Hearts 2 manga has one volume currently out in Japan and is on-going. The first volume of the manga covers the first six days in Twilight Town and the odd events that are occuring around Roxas. The KH and KH:COM mangas (the novels are still unlicenced for now) have been licenced in the U.S. by Tokyopop and while all four volumes have been released for KH, the KH:COM manga won't be released until October of this year. Will there be a Kingdom Hearts 3? Well, if there's a KH3 in the future... it won't be coming out anytime soon, since Tetsuya Nomura and the Kingdom Hearts team are currently working on one of the Final Fantasy XIII games called 'Final Fantasy Versus XIII,' which will be on the PS3. If and when KH3 is in development and have a better idea when the game will be released, like I mentioned eariler, I think that the 3rd game will be a prequel to the first two games since Sora's journey is now over and with the secret ending, it mentions several words -- 'Master of Keyblade,' 'The Lost Two,' 'Memory of Xehanort,' 'Chasers,' and 'Keyblade War.' All those words all seem to point into the past, before Sora's adventure even began and the final quote in the secret ending: "It all began with... birth by sleep," leaves the door open for possiblities of how everything started with the 'birth by sleep.' Personally, I think that quote has to do with how everything once came from darkness, hense the words, 'birth by sleep.' |
Naming this particular fanlisting wasn't hard at all, now that I think about it. The words Alter Ego popped into my head when I thought about how Roxas is a part of Sora, his other half otherwards. With that in mind, since he IS is other half, it would equal another personality, hense an Alter Ego. I think out of all the FLs that I own so far, that this one would have been the easiest to name. :P |
Version 1 of Alter Ego features pics of Roxas that were from the secret endings, "Another Side, Another Story" (KH) and "Another Side, Another Story -deep dive-" (KH: Final Mix). Of course, at the time that those games were released, no one knew that was Roxas fighting the Shadow and Neo Shadow Heartless and was known as the "BHK" or blond haired kid. Several years passed before his name released to the public, while KH2 was in development. The layout itself, not including the title bars and stuff for content was fairly easy to make. I mostly used A LOT of the burn and dodge tools in Photoshop 7.0 to have the images pop out/fade out. When I blended the two pics together (I flipped the front pic before I did the blending, since I thought that it would look better and it would block out the other pic), I burned a part of the back pic, so the pic with the closer view would pop out a bit more. The quotes, which I thought were a nice touch were just quotes that for the most part were said by him within the first six days (in our time, few hours) of the game. There are a few quotes that aren't found within the first few hours of the game, but were from either from one of the secret endings or from Chain of Memories. The two quotes, "A fragmented tale..." and "Sora, you're lucky. Looks like my summer vacation is... over," gave me the most issues. Even with the other glow, that made all of the quote "sparkle" or pop out (that idea came to me when I was watching the secret ending and I saw how some of the quotes had an outer glow to them to make them more readable), were hard to read. Those two alone, required a lot of adjustments for the pics so they were at least somewhat readable. I named this layout after the secret ending from the first game, not just because the secret ending was called that, but also how there was another side to Sora's story, hense another story aka Roxas's side which is revealed throughout the second game. |
